The 2011 MMVA's- The Good, Bad and the really Ugly

Last night was the 2011 MuchMusic Video Awards, the MMVA's. Canada's version of the MTV Awards.
How can I describe this show. Lets just say when Avril  Lavigne is the biggest star on the Red Carpet, you have a problem.

The Red Carpet started at 8pm and it whet nowhere fast. You had 3 VJ's doing the interviews. One was blocked by Selena Gomez's " people " while trying to talk to her, other one looked like he should be interview politicians in Ottawa  and then you have one interviewing (or trying to pick up) the crowd. He looked like he was ready for the club and to fist pump to some gino beats.  No wonder Colin Farrell couldn't get to bar fast enough.

Do the two on the left look happy?
I will be the first to say the reason I was watching this small disaster was for Lady Gaga only. Didn't care about Justin Bieber's girlfriend host, who apparently is eating again, and not wearing pants, but then who does now.
Lady Gaga opened the show with "The Edge Of Glory". It of course was great, but then the show went down fast. Host Selena Gomez, wearing not much, did some lame jokes about Canada and the crowd waited till Bieber won an award. Hold on - Surprise he did. Even more a surprise, he tired with Drake, who, guess what, he was also there! Wow this is exciting.

Lady Gaga MMVA Edge of Glory 06191 Lady Gaga: Wins International Video of the Year Award at MMVA

Blah blah blah a hour or so goes by, not much happens that I remember. They announce that Gaga is closing the show, great now I have to stay up. Just like the Bieber surprise, Lady Gaga wins both the awards she is up for, good thing she showed up.
10:50 Gaga takes the stage to Born This Way, being unzipped out what looked like a clear travel bag, she appears to be dress like a bird with teal hair, only to reveal that teal hair is not just a wig on her head.
Then ended the song by taking a  shower in chocolate or mud or something.
10:59 the Show Ends, and it can't be soon enough.
Yeah that's right, its green

The Edge Of Glory, is it really?

What do I think is the best song on Lady Gaga's Born This Way CD ? - This one!
What is dullest video Lady Gaga has made so far? - This one!
You can imagine my disappointment not only when for some unknown reason CTV decided to go to a commercial break in the middle of showing this video.
Then imagine it when I finally saw the whole video.
Compared to other epic Lady Gaga videos, this one is just average. Shame because I love this song.

Set in what seems to be a NYC street backdrop, or what I am guessing is some film lot somewhere LA. Gaga dances, climbs fire escapes and sits on apartment stairs in front of Clarence Clemons (sad that was filmed before his unfortunate stroke this past weekend) The sax sole is one of the best parts of this song and we really don't even see him at all.
Gaga's outfits - average.  There are no "acting" breaks in the middle of the video, just the song, as it is on the CD. No crazy plots that you need to figure out. There was nothing interesting about this video.

I think I am going to chalk it up too her just finishing her tour and promotion for Born This Way. I just will expect more for the next video.
But on a bright note, Madonna is going back to the studio. This can only mean that she will tour again soon. I can hope.

Arnold's Son?

Can someone explain to me why it took 13 years to figure out this was Arnold's kid?
The baby mother and former housekeeper did an interview with HELLO this week and, after 13 years Maria Shriver asked if Arnold was the father of her son.
Look at this kid. It took 13 years to figure that out! Are you kidding me, they look like identical.
Also, and maybe its just me, but I think even the mother kinda looks like Arnold.

Muma the Puma the beginning.

On Friday, a co-worker of mine emailed me to let me know that one of my twitter posts was published in Toronto's Metro newspaper. I ran downstairs to grab a copy. To my surprise on page 33, my mumathepuma tweet was there! I was so happy you would have thought I was getting a shout out from the New York Times!
Is it sad that made my day, no, maybe sad that it may make my month, but I don't care.
Muma the Puma is not stopping now.

NKOTBSB - Really No Joke

This past Thursday I went to the New Kids On The Block / Backstreet Boys (NKOTBSB) show at the Air Canada Centre. Yes me Lori Muma at NKOTBSB. I can't believe it either. Duran Duran was my "boy" band as a girl growing up. Only they were grown men at the time who played their own instruments and wrote their own songs, but I'm going off topic.
First off I need to thank my friend Jillian S for inviting me to this. To say I am not a fan of these bands is an understatement. So my expectation's was really really low.

It started with graphics introducing the band. We saw various ways to spell out NKOTBSB. I believe a "B' is missing, but that would be too long to fist pump too. Then we saw pictures of the guys with there names behind them. This was 10 minutes of nothing, but to determine what boy got the loudest screams from the women. Then all 9 appear on the stage doing a take on Coldplay's Viva La Vida. So far I'm not impressed.

As the show continued, I kept thinking of an episode of The Simpsons I saw, with Mick Jagger at Rock Camp going  "no matter what, wherever you are ,say its the wildest town ever to play"  Between the 9 of them, they must have said "Toronto is the best, Toronto,we love you. Toronto, Toronto...." at least 150 times in a 2 hour show. Yeah I get it. I know where I am. Thanks.

New Kids would play a song, then BSB would sing a song. Women would scream like 13 year old girls again. That is how it went. A nice man in the seat in front of us, gave me a Häagen-Dazs, so that was a highlight. They sang songs I didn't know, they sang other people's songs that pissed me off  and wore either all white outfits or bedazzled basketball Jerseys. I would upload some of these gems of pictures, but they keep crashing my computer. Fitting

They took time to introduce themselves (??) , all 9 of then and that took 15 min, they brought up something about Toronto (again) and the confetti flew and it was over.

Did I hate it? No, the stage was nice, the sound was clear, they loved Toronto. I love confetti and anything bedazzled.
I'm I downloading there music - no chance in hell.

Strangest Pictures of the Day

If pictures tell 1000 words, I would love to know if they even know 1000 words.

Snooki in Italy. The bag, the boots, the neck brace

They discuss plans for the White House, as they eat pizza and what looks like many bottles of water
